The small town of San Joaquín de Flores, a middle class suburb near the major cities of Heredia, Alajuela and San José, is the perfect location for students wishing to experience the true culture of Costa Rica yet wanting access to metropolitan areas. The city of Heredia is 10 minutes by bus, the city of Alajuela 15 minutes by bus and the capital San José 30 minutes by bus.

Part of our academic plan is to offer a greater variety of services to our students. Our institute in Heredia has just recently been approved by the Cervantes Institute after an extensive examination of our operations and academic programs.

We are proud of this achievement as the "Instituto Cervantes" is recognized as a leader in Europe and North America for the “diffusion of Spanish language and Spanish/Latin American cultures”.

a) General Information

We strongly recommend the homestay option as a complement to language studies as it provides the opportunity to apply the material learned in class. Additionally, the homestay experience is a cultural conduit to better understanding and insight into the daily life of a typical family.

Yet we recognize that living with a host family is not for everyone. The list of lodging options below are in the recommended accommodations. You may stay in a hotel or apartment the entire time or combine the homestay with other alternatives at each campus.

There is a limited number of these accommodations available, for this reason we advise that you do your reservations in advance.

b) In HEREDIA

“San Joaquín” Apartments
Apartments are located in the quiet residential town of San Joaquín de Flores within a 5- minute walk to the Heredia campus. The newly constructed furnished and fully equipped apartments are conveniently situated in secure settings nearby a restaurant, a snack bar and a mini market. Students staying in these apartments will experience the opportunity of living on their own in a Costa Rican community.

It includes: hot water, telephone (local and income calls), T.V, refrigerator, kitchen appliances such as microwave, blender, coffee maker, kitchenware; comfortable beds, bedding and towels; closets, rocky chairs, table, living room, laundry mat and drier. Cleaning is included (once a week).

A reservation starts on Sunday and ends on Sunday. To start or finish on different days, the extra night charge is applied. With four extra nights or more, the full week price applies.
